That sounds similar to my experience here in KS. The Wildlife Department does their own surveys and releases reports of ups and downs yet they don’t always correlate to what we see when hunting. I’m guessing that weather between the time of the surveys and hunting season could be a big factor. But I also can’t help but think about the fact that for Kansas, out-of-state hunters is big business so reporting that bird numbers are up may be a bit of the glass-is-half-full thinking.
