I think the grouse drumming routes have a consistent protocol, so the numbers are real. Hype surrounding them might sometimes be a bit optimistic:-) And yes, local conditions certainly will be a factor in how many birds it translates to in the fall.
We really should be on the way up though in the Lake states. The swings start in MN and work across to the east. Will be interesting to see what the WI counts look like.
