Gregg,  I read with interest your post about feeding RAW due to an experience that we had with one of our dogs.  One of Mike’s Fr Brits was hit by a vehicle (while in a wildlife area that did not allow vehicles!) and had a badly broken front leg.  The bone healed well with plates/screws and ultimately removing them, but the accident destroyed most of his foot pads as well as the carpal pad (the little one on the back of the front leg) and for over a year sores would develop on the newly grown pad.  We tried many things with little success until following deer season we began to supplement his food with meatballs made of fresh deer meat and fat.  Within weeks the pad healed for the first time and stayed well.  Since then we feed these “Bambi balls” as supplement for any dogs with injury, puppies, or worn down from hunting and feel they make a difference.
