My first season with new puppy Firelight Skye is nearing end, I don’t honestly know how the time went so fast.  Skye has become a family member, happily going with us wherever the vehicle takes her, ready to please and to be naughty as all puppies should, she is the sweetest companion and is happy to snuggle anyone.

Skye and I did our share of hunting and training at every given opportunity, on wild birds and flight ready quail that friends and I ordered and placed on his property.  Skye learned quickly that her nose is leading her, she appeared shocked when her eyes saw what her nose found her for the first time.  I was pleased to see how fast she went from following the scent to pointing the scent.  She has pointed and held steady on quail, woodcock and grouse. She got her first point and retrieve on wild grouse a couple weeks ago, she was so proud of herself as was I of her.

I look forward to the remaining weeks of the season and more bird encounters for Skye.

Terrible picture but a solid point.

Her first retrieve, passing my friend and running right to me.

        Her first wild grouse.

Skye stealing the best chair in the camp…

A hug from her buddy before leaving camp and heading home.

You and Skye have had a busy season, great job in laying that important foundation.  I really like hearing that she is pointing grouse and wc already, she is pretty young and I love a dog that starts early.  In the pic of you two by the lake she is starting to look like a grown-up dog!  Thanks for the update and thanks for giving Skye such a great start.

Good girl Skye.  Give her an ear rub from me and thanks for sharing your pics.
