A Community Of Ryman-type Setter Enthusiasts

My name is Ken Brate and I have been lurking for some time and felt it was time to introduce myself. I live with my wife in upstate NY – just east of Rochester. We have been involved with dogs since 1981. Originally Gordon Setters – Trialed, Hunted & Showed. Lately we have had/have English Cockers and English Pointers. I’m coming back to Grouse & Woodcock hunting after a laps of some years and I have been working with a older English Pointer to get back in the swing of things. Looking forward to the opening of the season in a few weeks time. The plan is to get a Ryman Pup this coming spring. I’ve already met a few of you and hope to meet more of the community in the future.

Welcome to RS, Ken! Have your Gordon friends forgiven you for thinking about coming over to the ‘light’ side? It was good to visit with you this summer, I enjoyed visiting and your warm hospitality was much appreciated.

Yea – I think they have pretty much given up on me – most of our recent time has been spent with the Pointer people… We also really enjoyed your visit and meeting your dogs.

Welcome Ken. Blue is our first Ryman type setter. We are so happy with him. You have come to the best place to start your search for one of these “classic” setters. Have fun and keep us posted!

Hi Ken! Hard to believe our season opens in 2 weeks. 87 degrees down here in Branchport.

85 here today – pretty much happens every year, week or so of hot weather in September… Hope it’s cooler by the time I get back from NC (Work Trip).
